The rules
No town ban or permit for metal detecting. Dunes: no walking on dunes outside walkovers, and no digging in the dune system (Sec. 94.05(A)(5)(a)). Shipwrecks: disturbing or removing any exposed shipwreck is unlawful without written permission from the NC Office of State Archaeology (Sec. 94.08). Town Beach Rules: monitor and refill all beach holes; use walkways and designated accesses. $50 civil penalty (Sec. 94.99). The town has no municipally owned beach accesses.
