Pinellas County Code Sec. 90-7(p): metal detectors are prohibited in county parks EXCEPT on beaches in parks — so Fort De Soto's North and East beaches are open, the rest of the park is not. County park rules add that all dug holes must be filled; no digging by tool off-beach (Sec. 90-6(c)).
