The Okaloosa County code has no metal detecting ban; checked the beach, parks and recreation-area rules in Ch. 16, Art. II. Sec. 16-43(t) requires holes on county beach property to be attended, filled before leaving, and no bigger than 3x3 ft and 2 ft deep. Stay off dunes and out of Eglin AFB beach areas on Okaloosa Island.
