Corps rules allow detecting only in designated 'open' day-use areas (ball fields, playgrounds, swim beaches within the swim lines); hand tools only, holes no bigger than 4x12 inches, no vegetation removal; ID-able or valuable items must be turned in to a ranger (non-ID items under 25 dollars may be kept).
