No North Myrtle Beach ordinance bans metal detecting; the city's Beach Ordinances require that any hole you dig be filled before you leave and make it illegal to pick or damage the sea oats and dune fencing. Detecting is done on the public beach, not in the dunes or at street ends. Littering carries fines up to $1,000 and motorized vehicles are prohibited on the beach.
