The rules
Most of Kiawah Island is private and gated, but Beachwalker County Park (Charleston County Parks) is the one public beach access. Park rules do not ban metal detecting; you must fill all holes before leaving (Rule 9), you may not feed, harass, destroy or remove plants, animals or artifacts (Rule 10), and trespassing on the dunes is prohibited (Rule 8).
