SC State Parks' Metal Detection Policy requires prior Park Manager approval and a signed permit (area, dates and times) for each use, with detecting kept to non-sensitive areas and off the dunes. The Hunting Island State Park Lighthouse Complex is on the policy's prohibited list, and any historic or prehistoric artifacts must be left in place.
