Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites rules prohibit metal detecting and possessing a detector on any state historic site (OCGA 12-3-10(n), 12-3-52). The reconstructed 1721 fort and its buried remains โ the oldest English fort site on Georgia's coast, over earlier Guale and Spanish mission occupation โ are protected.
