The rules
DeKalb Code Sec. 19-41 makes it unlawful to search any county park for historic artifacts or for lost/abandoned property of another, and to 'dig in or otherwise disturb the ground'; Sec. 19-40 separately bars digging up or removing any vegetation or natural fixture. Together these prohibit recreational metal detecting, though the code does not use the words 'metal detector.'
